Abstract

The article focuses on problems of the students’ intellectual and personal qualities in the linguistic education process. The researcher emphasizes the importance of metacognitive knowledge role in the content of cross-cultural competence. Based on the main characteristics of metacognitive knowledge (awareness, intentionality, controllability) the author shows the didactic aspect of personal qualities and abilities regulation in cross-cultural communication. The article presents the methods of metacognitive regulation of empathy, tolerance, readiness for changing prospect, flexibility and self-reflection. The author makes a conclusion that metacognitive knowledge in the content of cross-cultural competence forms regulatory base for students’ self-development.
