Abstract
- This paper presents, through a literature review, some of the main initiatives since the invention of the press that sought to extend the consumption of books and/or diversify its readership by using the editing, which allowed, among other things, the emergence of the paperback. As a result, it is argued that despite massification and popularization of the book have occurred only in the nineteenth century, the editorial interventions developed in this period in order to reach classes before non-readers were already applied since other centuries.
