Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic, non-communicable and complex, metabolic disease caused by resistance to insulin. The role of FABP2 in T2DM has been confirmed via genomic studies. Genetic studies related to Ala54Thr (A54T) polymorphism in FABP2 in the Pakistani population are lacking. The objective of the present study was to analyze the prevalence of A54T polymorphism among those diagnosed with T2DM in the Pakistani population.
