Abstract
- Background Respirator y and gastrointestinal symptoms are the common clinical manifestations associated with viral influenza infection. Some neurologic and cardiac complications of influenza are also well recognized. Case Report A 75-year-old man visited the emergency room complaining of sudden mental change with fever, and was diagnosed with influenza B encephalitis. On the 3rd day, he developed supraventricular tachycardia and expired. Conclusions The mental change and arrhythmia should be regarded as alarming signs in influenza viral infections, since the neurologic and cardiac involvement of the virus leads to fatality.
