Abstract

Objective To investigate the association of miR-34a-5p and JAG1 with type of human papillomavirus (HPV) and the prognosis. Methods Samples of condyloma acuminatum were collected from 101 patients with condyloma acuminatum (all HPV positive) at our hospital from March 2019 to March 2022. Samples were assigned to two groups, i.e., recurrence and non-recurrence according to whether recurrence occurred within 6 months after the treatments. Skin samples of either circumcision or vulvoplasty surgery from 98 individuals were used as the controls. The expression levels of miR-34a-5p and JAG1 mRNA were measured by real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR), while HPV genotyping test kit was used for HPV genotyping test. Pearson r was used to assess the correlation between miR-34a-5p and JAG1 mRNA levels in the patients with condyloma acuminatum. The ROC curve was used to determine the predictive value of miR-34a-5p and JAG1 mRNA levels for the recurrence of condyloma acuminatum. Results The expression levels of miR-34a-5p were lower, while JAG1 mRNA levels were higher in condyloma acuminatum than in the controls (P
