Abstract

As the traditional power grid has evolved into smart grid, testing of relay protection devices has shifted from manual mode to automatic model. By analyzing the shortcomings of the existing automatic testing systems, the paper proposes a new relay protection testing system based on 5G and image recognition technology to reduce labor cost and improve the testing efficiency of relay protection. The new system adopts a modular design idea and uses 5G network to connect the cloud server, automatic testing platform and mobile phone terminal so that testing solutions can be downloaded on the client, remote and real-time testing monitoring can be achieved, and testing report can be generated fast. In order to quickly obtain the pressure plate status of the protection device, image recognition technology is introduced, and corresponding solutions are proposed for the intelligent generation of test solutions, automatic configuration of virtual terminals and other key technologies. The system has been successfully applied to the acceptance of 500 kV Xiaowei substation and 220 kV Lyuting substation with satisfactory test results.
