Anaplastic carcinoma of the thyroid in a 12-year old girl

We report a case of a 12-year old who presented with a large neck mass. She underwent a total thyroidectomy with right modified radical neck dissection. The pathology revealed papillary cancer of the thyroid with a large anaplastic component. She underwent a total thyroidectomy and modified radical neck dissection. Postoperatively, she was treated with a customized regimen of chemotherapy and radiation. She is disease-free three years after diagnosis.
