Abstract
- The integration of teaching, research and extension is an efficient didactic model in the agrarian sciences. Final students of the Technical Course on Fishery Resources followed the traditional process of fish meal production in the rural community Nossa Senhora do Desterro (Parintins, Amazonas) and, after observing the inherent flaws in the process, the students gave a workshop on good practices in handling of food, optimizing the traditional production process and increasing technical knowledge about fish by products, hygiene and food handling. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the extension activity, we used teaching evaluation tools (conceptual map and questionnaires using the Likert scale model). The results indicate that the exchange and interaction of technical and cultural knowledge contribute to the consolidation of the student's cognitive structure, due to the significance of the acquired knowledge and the consolidation of prior knowledge about the subject.
