Clinical practice guidelines for depression in young people

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors should not be considered a first line treatment for depression in young people, since the two clinical studies that have been published that seemingly support this recommendation have some flaws that need to be addressed. One study had very high dropout rates, and the other showed no benefit of treatment over placebo. Authors of the report supporting the use of SSRI's offer a rebuttal.
