Abstract

Black children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) should have the same good outcome as white children with this type of leukemia provided they receive the same treatment, according to a study of 412 children and teenager with ALL. About 80% of the children survived for at least five years after treatment, regardless of their race. This was true even though the black children were more sick when they began treatment.
