Abstract
- This research investigates the impact of a firm's stakeholder focus on employee commitment to the organization. The results show that workers who believe their organization is more customer- and shareholder-focused than employee-focused are less committed than employees who believe otherwise. The findings are both theoretically important because of their implications regarding comparison groups used in assessments of antecedents to commitment, and managerially significant because of their implications regarding resource allocations among stakeholders.<br />Today's increasingly competitive business environment requires that companies find new and improved strategies for achieving superior financial returns.
