Abstract

Iraq's electric power plants were bombed by Tomahawk cruise missiles equipped with warheads filled with carbon fibers during the early hours of the Persian Gulf War. The carbon fibers caused transformers and other electrical apparatus to short circuit, thereby blinding electronic air defenses.
