Abstract: Two novel beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) derivatives possessing azobenzene functional groups as a spectral probe were synthesized in high yields and their complexation behaviors with aliphatic alcohols were evaluated by using UV-vis, circular dichroism and 1H NMR spectroscopy.
