Abstract

The ability of children to imagine alternate social realities are discussed and it is argued that playground poetry is worthy of a serious literary study. Further it is suggested that the vulgar rhymes of the playground may be a meeting place for adults and children as well as an entry point for a lifelong love of all kinds of poetry.
