Abstract

The first Rapid-freeze-quench magnetic circular dichroism (RFQ-MCD) data on transient, high-valent iron-oxo intermediate X. Fe(super IV) ligand field (LF) transitions are presented. The analysis favors the mono-mu-oxo model for X, where the reductive cleavage of the O-O bond generates an oxo bridge and H2O.
