Anomalous intramolecular C-H insertion reactions of rhodium carbenoids: factors influencing the reaction course and mechanistic implications

Rhodium carbenoids were inserted into the alpha-C-H bonds of allylic ethers to produce 3(2H)-furanones. In addition to the expected 3(2H)-furanones, unexpected acetal products from an anomalous C-H insertion process were obtained.
