Clouds over soot evaporation: errors in modeling laser-induced incandescence of soot

The impacts of using incorrect soot evaporation model and the confusion surrounding the model in evaluation of the laser-induced incandescence (LII) model against experimental data is discussed. The significance of the molecular weight associated with the heat of evaporation and thermal velocity of carbon vapor on the results obtained with the evaporation model are demonstrated.
