Intermolecular interactions and the structure of fatty acid-soap crystals

A combination of crystallography, molecular dynamic (MD) simulations and infrared spectroscopy is used to explore the nature of intermolecular interactions in long chain length acid-soaps. The subtle variations observed in intermolecular interactions reflect in the deviations of spectral features from the parent acid and soap crystals.
