Abstract

The report published by the London-based Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) declared that thinking 'green' should be integral to the teaching, research and practice of chemistry in academia and industry. The RSC project manager stated that green chemistry involves promoting the design of environmentally benign processes that minimize or eliminate the use of toxic substances and maximizes overall efficiency through the reduction of unwanted by-products, especially toxic materials.
