Abstract: The effects of addition of carbon on structure and magnetic properties of the Sm(sub 20)Fe(sub 70)C(sub 10) alloy synthesized by mechanical alloying are investigated. The Sm(sub 2)Fe(sub 14)C and alpha-Fe phases tend to form when more carbon is added.
