John Brophy, former general manager of corporate research at BP Chemicals, England reported that chemical industries will adopt Microchannel reactors in plants that will benefit lower investment costs and more efficient energy use. Microchannel reactors consist of stacks of closely spaced thin plates designed to form microchannels with specific dimensions, regularity, and connectivity in the spaces between the plates.
