Abstract
- Kmart Holding shares rose sharply, since emerging from bankruptcy in May 2003, giving the discounter a market value of $8 billion. Kmart is shedding real estate, investing little in it's 1,500 stores, letting its sales shrink and keeping prices high, relative to rivals Walmart and Target, in an apparent attempt to capitalize on the part of its customer base.
