The UN force: a new actor in the Croatian-Serbian crisis

The UN Protection Force will be sentto war zones in Croatia following approval from the Security Council on Feb 22,1992. The peacekeeping force is granted a year's mandate and it is likely that it will also engage in political mediation even though this may complicate its duties. The UN force will probably extend its stay if the Croatian-Serbian conflict is not resolved immediately. The search for a political solution is paramount and the UN force can be a vital factor politically.
