Abstract

The isolation of an Sphingomonas xenophaga Bayram strain that efficiently degrades 4-(1-ethyl-1,4-dimethylpentyl)phenol is reported. The degradation experiments with five different 4-nonylphenol isomers have indicated that degradability is strongly dependent on the structure of the alkyl substituent.
