Abstract

The Communications Research Centre at Loughborough University has illustrated that the UK daily tabloid newspapers are showing more bias towards the Conservative party than ever before, while broadcast coverage is virtually identical for both parties. In the tabloids the Conservatives are presenting their arguments and attacking but not defending. Labour is predominantly defending although their policy presentation is boosted by the Daily Mirror. Broadcasting coverage given to the two main party leaders differs by only 44 seconds in 29 minutes.
