Abstract

Murine erythroleukemia cells contained the protein kinase C (PKC) epsilon and alpha isoenzymes but no PKC beta isoenzymes. Hydroxylapatite column chromatography separated the different Ca2+-dependent isoenzymes and showed major and minor peaks of PKC activity. Immunoblot analysis using antibodies specific for PKCalpha and PCKepsilon revealed that the the minor peak contained PKCepsilon and not PKCbeta as previously identified while the major peak was noted to be predominated by PKCalpha.
