Photocatalytic wastewater treatment combined with ozone pretreatment

The photocatalytic process as a new wastewater treatment method is discussed. Photocatalytic degradation experiments were carried out to probe the mineralization time lag that stable compounds exhibit. In particular, fenitrothion was degraded by ozonation and photocatalytic treatment in the experiments. It was found that the degradation of pollutants is greatly facilitated by ozonation pretreatment prior to photocatalytic treatment and that the effect of ozone pretreatment is not confined to aromatic compounds.
