China asks for Australian help to educate one million citizens

Abstract

Brendan Nelson, Federal Education Minister for Australia, has claimed that, on a recent visit to Beijing, Zhou Ji, China's Education Minister, expressed an interest in Australia helping educate one million of China's citizens. This year, 72,000 Chinese students were enrolled on courses in the Australian education market, with about 30,000 Chinese students studying Australian programmes in China.
