UK scientists will be encouraged to make international links, particularly with Asia. Research in Germany is done through a variety of institutions, some in education and some in industry. South Africa is looking to radically change its policies in line with its social change. Australian universities are told to prioritise research which is economically valid. In the US policy is set by the President who defines area of research. China is concentrating on establishing high technology projects to generate income.
