Italy celebrates Columbus: the Indian rediscovered

Italy has failed to use the quincentenary to explore the history and current lives of native North and South Americans. North American Indians, in particular, have long evoked interest among Italians, but official events have focused almost exclusively on Italian exploration and explorers. Protesters against this situation, while small in number, have been vocal and gained some media attention.
