Abstract

The cell-cycle effects of the cytotoxic neutral cysteine protease inhibitor N-acetylleucylnorleucinal (ALLN) were reported. It was shown that ALLN is a strong inhibitor of cell-cycle progression in cultured mammalian cells, affecting the cell cycle at important transition points. The mitotic effect of ALLN is correlated with inhibition of cyclin B degradation and sustained activation of histone H1 kinase activity.
