Abstract

The magnetic characteristics of molecular based materials containing rare erath ions and organic radicals were investigated. The results showed that materials with nonmagnetic rare earth ions behaved like one-dimensional antiferromagnets since superexchange reactions determined coupling between the radicals. In the case of isotropic gadolinium, the magnetic characteristics were dominated by next nearest neighbor interactions.
