Direct determination of grain-boundary and dislocation self-diffusion coefficients in silver from experiments in type-C kinetics

Abstract
- The grain-boundary and dislocation self-diffusion coefficients in silver were directly determined using an Ag radiotracer during experiments in type-C kinetics conditions. The results showed that an implanted, mass-separated carrier free Ag radiotracer enhanced the sensitivity for measuring grain-boundary penetration profiles. In contrast with conventional methods, the technique allowed penetration profiles to be distinguished.
