Abstract
- The mammalian neocortex was studied as the origin of consciousness which evolved from mental units designated as psychons. With the evolution of the mammalian species, the mammalian dendrons differentiated for more effective integration of the increased complexity of interacting inputs which in turn react with psychons. This places mammals above reptiles who lack neocortices and as such cannot evolve conscious experiences.
