Abstract

A Gallup poll conducted Aug 9-16, 1993 reveals that the Canadian Progressive Conservatives are narrowing the public popularity gap on the Liberal Party, now trailing by 4%. The Conservatives would receive 36% of the votes if the election were held on the day of the poll, compared to the Liberals 40%. The next leading vote-getter would be the National Democratic Party, receiving 8% of the vote. The Liberals would have a majority in Ontario, while the Conservatives did well in Quebec. Other regional variations are discussed.
