Abstract

The design and fabrication of a multichannel direct current superconducting quantum interference device (DC SQUID) system for biomagnetic applications are described. The system uses a highly-sensitive square-shaped double washer type DC SQUID and a planar figure-8 pick-up coil which acts as a first-order gradiometer. Experimental measurements reveal the excellent performance of each unit of the system.
