Abstract

The intrinsic Josephson effects in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x (BSCCO) single crystals were investigated. BSCCO single crystals were grown from a stoichiometric mixture of the basic oxides and subsequently subjected to a preamplified signal at 10 gigahertz. The ouput noise power was then measured at a fixed detector frequency as a function of the voltage across the crystals. Results show that a single BSCCO crystal can function like a series array of more than 2000 Josephson junctions.
