Abstract
- The temperature-c0 calibration of D.M. Shengelia, R.A. Akhvlediani and D.N. Ketskhoveli was tested to geologically examine the dependability of the X-ray diffraction (XRD)-derived c0 parameter in functioning as a geothermometer. The possible application of the changes in the c0 parameter of graphite with temperature for geothermometric measurements were explored. For qualitative measurement, graphite thermometry can be applied only to low-grade metamorphic rocks, because besides temperature, other factors influence the c0 parameter of graphite. For temperatures more than 500 degree centigrade, graphite thermometry is a useful technique.
