Iowa feeding alliance demonstrates data-sharing improve performance

An alliance between cattle producers, Iowa State University and animal health corporations has shown that early control of calf diets yields beef which is more tender and of more consistent quality. The research, conducted from Nov 1992 to Jul 1993, was made possible by cooperation and data-sharing between participant groups and companies. Among the other significant results of the cooperative research was the development of various formula which allow the the measurement of marbling and tenderness.
