Abstract
- Temporary faults in database and process control systems are recovered by the use of rollback-recovery technique, which is a backward error-recovery technique. Deadlines generally restrict the rollback-recovery in process-control systems. Hence, the rollback points must be dynamically inserted. The performance of rollback-recovery strategies is studied using the semi-Markov process. When the rollback recovery is implemented, the model determines the mean program completion time for database and process control systems.
