Abstract
- The use of immunoblotting tests, direct hemolysin assay and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay aid the determination of the influence of glucose, pH and growth temperature on the production of listeriolysin O in Listeria monocytogenes. Increase in glucose concentrations and reduced growth temperatures result in a decrease in the production of listeriolysin O. External pH regulates the production of listeriolysin O and a decrease of pH of the growth medium is responsible for the influence of high glucose concentrations.
