Abstract

The pathogenicity of Dickeya dadantii is tested on the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum, to demonstrate that it is highly virulent for the insect either by septic injury or by oral infection. The pathogenic trait for aphids is shown to be widespread, albeit variable, within the phytopathogenes, with no link to phylogenetic positioning in the Enterobacteriaceae.
