A four-legged Katrina flap

Some animal-rights activists have brought the role played by the Humane Society of the United States in bringing together pets and owners in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina into question. Accusations of misuse of funds has led to an inquiry into the Society's disbursement of such monies by the Attorney General of Louisiana and it is feared that the taint of such accusations even if proved unfounded would damage this influential animal rights advocacy group.
