Abstract

An iterative version of the synthetic aperture imaging algorithm extended synthetic aperture technique (ESAFT) is presented based on a linear model that accounts for the distortions effects of an imaging system used for acquisition of ultrasonic data. A further refinement of the ESAFT technique aimed at enhancing lateral resolution and reducing background noise in the processed image is proposed.
