Abstract

An attempt to analyze the Turkish minority rights regime is made, focusing first on the implications of the Ottoman millet system along with a look at the failure of the Ottomanist policies that sought to accomplish a framework of equality within difference. It would review the modern establishment of the Republican minority rights regime with a special emphasis on the formulation of the scope of minority provisions in the Treaty of Lausanne concluded in the aftermath of the First World War.
