Abstract

A statistical model of key compression techniques for estimating the distortion in progressive JPEG compressed images due to quantization and channel hit errors in the joint manner is presented. The unequal power allocation scheme used to prove the viability of the model showed that peak-signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) increased at low SNRs when compared to equal power allocation.
