A Gallup poll taken on Jan 10-17, 1994, found that 45% of Canadians felt that unemployment was the most serious issue facing their nation. When the same question was asked in Sep 1992 only 25% cited unemployment as their main concern. The economy in general was named by 17% of those polled, down from 37% the previous Sep. Government deficit and debt was cited as Canada's most important problem by 21% of those polled. Regional variations are discussed.
