Abstract
- Three theories, actual intentionalism, hypothetical intentionalism and the value-maximizing theory are discussed regarding the interpretations of fictional literature. An argument is presented that hypothetical intentionalism either reduces to the value-maximizing theory or it mistakenly attributes to hypothesized intentions the kind of force that attaches only to actual intentions.
