Abstract
- The British government has decided to reduce the funds for Section 11 of the Local Government Act which recommends the teaching of English as second language to refugee and ethnic minority children. This will prove to be a setback to many refugees from countries such as Somalia and Bosnia. The money was used for counselling courses, teaching English and providing support to these children and the cut in funds is being opposed by the Refugee Council.
