Abstract
- An analysis of pathways involved in the formation of cat gall bladder tone, using samples of smooth muscle, suggested a role for the synergistically activated secretion of diacylglycerol (DAG) and inositol-1, 4,5-trisphosphate (IP3)-calcium in directing gall bladder tone formation. Contraction of gall bladder tone is associated with the activation of protein kinase C, mediated by IP3-DAG interaction. H-7 inhibited the IP3-induced contraction at low doses of IP3 and failed to affect high doses of IP3 which was inactivated by active calmodulin.
